Worn Out

By this time every year, winter is wearing out its welcome.  Something within us is weary of the dark days, the damp and chill no matter how mild the weather.  We are ready for the heat of living, for the vitality of existence that arrives with warmer temperatures. Could it be what we long for is the light-- the same way the seeds and buried roots and unborn eggs in all living things do. The call to be what we are is for everything, including us.

"Think, dear sir, of the world you carry within you...be it remembrance of your own childhood or longing for your own future.  Only be attentive to what is arising in you, and prize it above all that you perceive around you. What happens most deeply inside you is worthy of your whole love.  Work with that and don't waste too much time and courage explaining it to other people."
Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet
