The Gifts of Time Away
Time-- to relax our grip on our constant contact technology, to sleep late, to have open spaces in our schedule, to finish conversations and go back to them, to notice, to listen without distractions, to take naps, take walks. Away-- from the daily grind, from the multitude of screens, the loud voices, the hard edges of our regular worlds, to leave behind the' to do' list, the goals, the expectations, the shoulds and have to's, to be out of reach of everything and everyone that wants a piece of us.
Rest: to feel finally, the dry riverbed of overwork filling with renewed enthusiasm for our lives, what we do, or want to do; to notice again the rich goodness of our relationships instead of the shortcomings; to restore our sense of humor and optimism. To see again the beauty that exists in everything and to let striving give over to being and loving.
In short, for a while, to let go....
