Anyone who knows about fishing knows the smell of fish beds. Recently where I live on a lake, the scent was so strong I could smell it as I sat on the deck. I was surprised by the intensity of it as the house sits high above the water's edge. What a distinct smell it is too. To me it's a combination of the taste of metal mixed with the smell of damp moss and 'innards' to use the rural expression. What do you think?
There is a great quote from The Oprah Goddess that goes something along the lines of "believe people when they show themselves to you the first time". We humans, unlike our other animal kingdom relatives, have a tendency to try and not do that. Like that fishy smell. It is unmistakable. We've all been in the scenario when something isn't quite right--we smell something fishy, which doesn't necessarily mean something bad---but for all sorts of reasons we decide to ignore our "noses" even when the evidence is as smelly as a fish bed..
Yes there it is a long way between fish beds and human intuition, but there is a little lesson here. The world isn't black and white. THANK GOODNESS. We do ourselves no service in navigating it sometimes treacherous waters, if we don't trust what our senses and intuition tell us. And once you begin noticing the first thing, then.....
"If you notice anything,
it leads you to notice
more
and more."
